BIOGRAPHIES

  Zavid Reid

Picture
Electric, Acoustic and Slide Guitars, Vocals

Born in Ottawa,  Zavid Reid is a singer/ songwriter and an accomplished multi- instrumentalist. He is adept at, 6 and 12 string acoustic and electric guitars, various ‘open-tuned’ slide guitars, dobro, banjo, mandolin, bass and keyboards.  A founding member of TTL, Zavid has over 35 years experience as a songwriter, professional musician and raconteur.

As the principle songwriter for Three Times Lucky, his heartfelt songs portray the tragic, uplifting, and sometimes comedic trials and tribulations, which he has faced, witnessed, or lived, throughout his life time. It has been suggested that every song he pens, is a mini novel, telling stories about the common man's life. Broken hearts, love, pain, addiction, jubilation, jealousy, anger, happiness, greed, sorrow and broken dreams are all fair game, in Reid’s ‘baring the soul’ style of song writing.

“When the suns shines, in your hair, I just want to be there, to climb those stairs,
To the window, near your soul, Where I don’t need a habit, to make me feel whole”

TTL bassist Zteve Reid, was born in North Bay, Canada, and for other than the years he spent living in Europe as a youth, he has called Ottawa home for most of his life.

Since early childhood, Zteve has always had a keen love and interest in music of all genres and cultures. Whether it be Blues, Rock, Classical,  Hip-hop, Metal, Punk, Reggae or Zydeco, Zteve is constantly on the lookout for new beats, rhythms and interesting sound-scapes to incorporate into his own song writing and solo recording projects.

Zteve plays bass guitar when performing with Three Times Lucky. Although primarily a guitar player, taking on bass responsibilities for TTL came naturally, as he originally trained as an upright string bassist in high-school bands growing up, and loves playing in the pocket.

Zteve has performed, toured and recorded as a lead guitarist, bassist, drummer and vocalist in several other Ottawa area bands over the years, including Rain Shadow, The Black Death,
Photo Perfume, Delta Revolvers, Johnny Ballistic and The Crack Band, as well as playing at studio recording sessions with The Licorice Project, and solo efforts as Hyposonic6.

Zteve is active in the local Ottawa Valley music scene, and as a founding member of TTL, he has been performing, recording and co-producing with Three Times Lucky since 2010.
He is thrilled to be performing in a band along with some of his oldest mates, as well as his younger brother Zavid, in an increasingly creative and musically challenging environment.

"Creating original music with these talented musicians, while looking forward to the many new challenges ahead, I am having a blast as Three Times Lucky evolves from it's Blues-Rock roots, to ultimate and total world domination, or at least conquering the good bits" ;)
